Little KIKO Haul

Hello everyone!

I'm really sorry for the lack of blog posts the past few weeks. I was a little stressed because of Christmas - I had to do lots of shopping and wrapping presents and so on. I also had to plan and pack my suitcase because I'm home in Austria over Christmas break - whoo!

I arrived in Vienna on monday evening and my parents picked me up. I'm really excited to be home for Christmas. And my mum already gave me a pre-christmas-present: she picked up some products from KIKO for me!

I already own some nail lacquers from KIKO and I really enjoy the formulae and they have an amazing colour range!

My mum bought a lovely burgundy nail lacquer which I think is lovely for autumn and winter. The shade is called "243 Plum Red".

I also got a a simple grey Quick Dry nail lacquer in the shade "818 Smoke Gray".

And of course you can never go wrong with a black nail varnish! I'm always on the hunt for the perfect black nail varnish because I find that a lot of blacks don't go on smoothly and I'm a little fussy with that (I know it's quite strange! haha)

My mum also picked up a concealer for herself, but she decided she's not the biggest fan of it and she'd rather stick with her old and well-known concealer. So she gave it to me instead! She said she prefers her stick concealers because it's quicker and she doesn't want to take the time to apply it with a brush.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm excited to and I'll let you know what i think about it! The shade she got is "02 Natural".

So that's everything I have for today! I want to know if you have any experience with KIKO products and what you could recommend!

xx

november favourites

hello there J

I don’t know if maybe I’m a little too early with this post but I just thought it’s the right time! And oh my god I can’t believe that November is nearly over - the month just flew by! So here is my (very first) favourites list for November 2013:

The first product I’ve been really loving this month is the "Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub" from The Body Shop. I picked this one up at the end of october and since then i’ve been using it every single day. My skin just feels clean and smooth after I used it. And it also helps to fight blemishes and redness.

I’ve also been loving the "Stay Matte powder" from Rimmel London in "001 transparent". Since my other powder was running low I thought I’d try this product and I don’t regret my decision. I think it sets my foundation nicely and is also very long lasting!

My next favourite has to be the Sleek "Au Naturel" Palette! What can I say.. I just really love it J you can read more about it in my last blog post here!

And my favourite lipsticks this months are: the "Colour Crush Lipstick" in "200 Peachy Pink" form The Body Shop and Collections "Lasting Colour Lipstick" in "3 Sugar Plum". Totally different colours but both really lovely and moisturising for the lips!

you can see the label is already coming off because i've used this product so much J

I thought I’d also include non-beauty-related favourites in this post:

I’ve been listening to Lady Gagas new album "Artpop" and I really like it. You should definitely check it out! My favourite songs are "Do What You Want" and "Gypsy".

And I've also been loving the album "AM" by the "Arctic Monkeys". Especially the song "One For The Road". I played the album over and over again on my train ride to London (more about that here!). It's a great album and you should really check it out! J

What are some of your favourite things this month?

Sleek Au Naturel Palette

hey there J

So I popped into Superdrug when I was in London to pick up one of the Sleek Palettes. I came across the Sleek display in my local Superdrug and when I saw it I was like "What?! I didn’t even know they sell Sleek here!“. I got really excited and so i had a closer look.

The first palette i grabbed was the "Au Naturel Palette". I usually tend to go for the natural eye shadows. I really like to do brownish smokey eye looks. Whether it’s for a day look or a night out (i just put on some more mascara and eyeliner). I really liked the shades of the palette – it contains four shimmers and eight mattes.

And also the fact that it’s really handy and has a nice big mirror. I think it will be a great companion for traveling!

I also really like the packaging!

Then i had a look at "Oh So Special Palette" and I fell in love with the colours! But I was a little bit unsure if i could rock a more colourful eye make up look. So in I had to ask my friends advice and they told me I should get the "Au Naturel Palette" as it matches my eyes better – so that’s what i did! And I’m really happy about it! I like how the eyeshadow is super wearable for the daytime but you could also glam it up with the shimmering shades!

But now that I’m thinking of the "Oh So Special Palette" .. hmm .. I think I might need to pick it up the next time I get to a Superdrug store!

What is your favourite eyeshadow palette? And what do you think about the Sleek products? Any recommendations?

London Lover

I spent the last weekend in London and it happend again – i fell in love with this city all over again.

I’ve already spent two of my most amazing holidays in London in the past two years. And I went there for a daytrip just a little over a month ago. But this time was kind of special. Not only was it my first time going there alone, but also I met up and stayed with my friend Sophie over the weekend! And I also got to see my friend Stefanie who I haven’t seen for about 3 months!

Now it may not sound special to some people - i know. But what was special about it for me, was that I haven’t met up with both of them, Sophie and Steffi, for over 3 months! The three of us attended the same school in Austria. And after graduation all of us decided to go to England as au-pairs. I was the first one to leave and it was really hard to say goodbye to them.  But finally we were reunited in London! And it just felt so special!

yep that's me smiling like .. whatever haha
Of course we did see all of the tourist attractions like Westminster, Big Ben, the London Eye and Tower Bridge! I really wanted to go to Covent Garden – as it is one of my favourite places in the city! Especially in the Winter time! And of course they already had the christmas decoration up – it felt magical!

After we had lunch at "Five Guys" (great american Burger place near Covent Garden – you should definitely check it out!) we took the tube to Notting Hill Gate and went to the Portobello Market – one of the most famous street markets of the city! They have lots of different stuff and you can find almost everything there! I especially like the little boutiques and the vintage things you can buy there!

We also went for a walk around Kensington Gardens which was lovely although the weather wasn’t too nice!

On sunday we went to Camden Market which is always an event! There are always a lot of people around and i just really like the vibe there. So many different people with different styles! And you can get amazing and inexpensive food there!

After we wandered around in Camden Market we took the tube to Angel and had a lovely time at the Austrian Coffeehouse "Kipferl"! We orderd some typical austrian specialities like Sachertorte and Guglhupf! And we also had a can of Almdudler - which is a herbal lemonade you can only get in Austria - I’ve been craving it sooo much since I left Austria!

Sophie is excited about the Austrian treats! J

To finish off our day we also made a trip to the British Museum which was incredible as usual!

I had so much fun in London and I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

What is your favorite thing to do or your place in London?

See you soon,

Ann-Kathrin J

new foundation

hello there J

After a struggel that went on for what seems like ages, i think i finally managed to find the perfect foundation for me! And i wanted to share it with you J

I tried a few different foundations before and i never was really happy with the results. I either looked cakey (especially with some powder on top) or it just didn’t fit my skin colour. But since i heard (and read) so many good things about the Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation - i thought i’d give it another go. And i’m really happy about it!

The foundation has got a medium coverage. I got it in the colour "102 light nude" and i think it looks very natural and leaves your skin looking fresh and awake. It stays on almost all day and some days i only used the foundation and a little bit of mascara (without any other products – yes i felt a little lazy haha :P) and i still liked how my skin looked.

And i don’t know about you, but i really like it when products smell good and that’s the case with this foundation haha :D

So if you are looking for a good foundation that also is affortable you should definitley give it a go!

Please leave me a comment what you think about it or if you have any recommendations! J

See you soon,

Ann-Kathrin
