Travel Make Up Bag

Hello lovelies!

I'm back with a new post in the new year! Happy (late) 2015! I just came back from my holiday break in Spain where I also "celebrated" New Years Eve (meaning: I stayed in my hotel room because I was feeling poorly!). Today I thought I'd show you what make up I took with me on my holidays. Hope you enjoy!

First of look at my cute bag! My mum's co-worker designed and made this herself and I'm absolutely in love with it. I don't know what it is but lately I've been obsessed with deer prints so this one is my new fav!

For an even base I took my Bourjois 123 Perfect CC Cream with me. I just repurchased this as my old one, that I bought back in June, ran out - can't believe it actually lasted me that long. I've done a review on this here! I apply this with my ebeline makeup sponge. Next up is my new favourite concealer: the Maybelline FitMe concealer in the shade 15! This is super creamy, gives great coverage and stays put throughout the day.

I fill in my brows with the IQ Cosmetics Eyebrow Pencil in the brown shade and then go over them with the Maybelline Brow Drama in Dark Blond. I've recently dyed my brows and find that this combo works best on my now darker brows!

I took only two eyeshadows with me: a light champagne shade from GOSH, this is "01" from an old gift set that I once got from my Secret Santa. And a brown shimmery shade from essence with the name  "09 Get Ready!". I should probably bin both of them because of their expiration date - but up until now they've been fine. To make them last longer I used my Pro-Base Eye Primer from Makeup Academy (review here).

The next product is the Look by Bipa Eyeliner Liquid: I picked this up for my Halloween makeup (instagram photo here - follow me if you fancy) which it was fine for, but for an everyday cat flick it definitely isn't my favourite as it smudges easily, so I don't think I'll be repurchasing it!

I curl my lashes with the ebelin eyelash curlers and then coat them with the Maybelline Volum' Express The Falsies Flared Mascara (that's the german name on the product for you ;D). Sometimes I go over them again with the essence I Love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara for some extra drama.

To finish off I powder my face with the Real Techniques Powder Brush and Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder in "55 Beige Foncé" and slightly contour my face with my favourite bronzer MUA Mosaic Powder in "Natural Glow" (read my review here) and a brush from superdrug.

And that's all the makeup I took with me on holiday - excluded the lipsticks in my handbag, if you want to see those just let me know in the comments below! I hope you have a great day!

Also there is still some time to enter my MAC lipstick giveaway - check it out here!

Everyday Make Up Routine - Summer Edition

Hello lovelies!

Today I bring you my first ever Make Up Routine post! I've recently changed up my everyday make up routine for summer and I actually fell in love with it - am I even allowed to say that?!

It's nothing extra fancy or special, just a simple everyday look:

I start off by using the simple kind to skin light moisturiser to prep my face before using the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC cream in 31 Ivory. I either applied this with just my hands or my Real Techniques Buffing Brush. For under eye circles and spots I use the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in the shade Light 2.

I then powder my face with Rimmel Londons Stay Matte Pressed Powder in 001 Transparent and the RT Blush Brush. Afterwards I move on to my eyebrows for which I use a mixture of the two powder from the Along Came Betty Br-Wow! brow kit. I've been loving an eyeshadow from essence that I've had for probably ages now: it's "09 get ready" which is a lovely brown with a slight shimmering effect. I apply it with an eyeshadow bush from KIKO ("eye 202").

To coat my lashes I use either the L'Oréal miss manga mascara or the essence maximum length volume mascara. At last I take my Bourjois Délíce de Poudre to bronze and contour my face with the RT Contour Brush.

My lip product of choice on these photos was the Rimmel Apocalips in the shade "Galaxy" - which I adore. And that's pretty much it!

Also please excuse that my eyebrows don't look to tidy! I'm currently trying to grow them out, which is such a hard task- ugh!

I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Would you like to see more of these Face Of The Day posts? And what do you think of my look?

Bourjois 123 Perfect Colour Correcting Cream Review

Hello beauties!

Today I've got a review of the Bourjois 123 Perfect Colour Correcting Cream (now that's a mouthful!) for you! It's been a long time coming but finally I've managed to put it into words haha

I've purchased this back at the beginning of April as I felt I needed something lighter to put on my face for the summer. I've read so many good reviews about this and I just had to see for myself. This also was my first time using a BB or CC cream. I have to say I really like it and have been using it almost every single day since purchasing it!

First thing I've noticed when applying it to my face was the nice smell! I've also had compliments on how nice my makeup smells after I hugged people Hello while wearing this - is that good or bad? I really don't know haha But don't worry the scent is really not too strong - I don't actually notice it once it's applied, just when squeezing it out of the tube. Talking about that: you have to be very careful when squeezing it out because the formular is very runny and thin coming out of the tube. But it's really easy to apply! I usually put this CC cream on with only my hands and achieve nice results. You can of course apply it with a brush - for those of you who don't want their hands to get dirty - and get great results.

This CC cream blends really well and looks very natural. It makes your skin look luminous and gives a nice, dewy finish. It's also really light-weight and doesn't look cakey on the face at all.

The product contains 3 pigments for colour correction: apricot pigments to go against signs of fatigue, green for anti-redness and white pigments to conceal dark spots. I'd say the coverage is light to medium, but it's very buildable so you can easily cover problematic spots or blemishes!

Unfortunately I think the colour range isn't the best! There's only four different shades available which is a bit poor. I chose the colour "31 Ivory". Anyways I would definitely pick it up if you can find the right shade for you because it's a really lovely base product, especially for the hotter months of the year! It also has SPF 15 and is supposed to give 24 hour hydration.

This product retails for £9.99 at Boots which I think is a reasonable price!

Have you tried this product yourself or are you planning on trying? What's your favourite CC cream?

Have a lovely day,

xx Ann-Kathrin

Collection Eyeliner Comparison

Hello lovelies!

Today I bring you a comparison of two eyeliner products from Collection! These products being the Fast Stroke Eyeliner and the Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner.

A while back I picked up the Fast Stroke Eyeliner in a hurry and in the need for a new eyeliner. I remember mentioning this and also my concerns about it in my big Beauty Haul. My concerns were that I wouldn't get along with the formular and that this might have been an unlucky pick. But I gave it a trial phase anyways - I can't stand wasting products! But after trying it out properly and using it daily, I realized that it really wasn't for me!

My problem with it is that whenever I put it on, one swipe usually isn't enough. It either looks wobbly or the colour pay-off isn't good enough. So I always end up needing another swipe on top - but whenever I do that, the applicator just takes off the colour I just applied, rather than adding more. In the end it just looks really messy and not defined at all. The product also needs a long time to dry, so if you blink right after applying it, you'll end up with Panda-eyes - not the best look in my opinion!

Fast Stroke Eyeliner

So after struggling with the Fast Stroke Eyeliner for some time I decided that I needed to change to another product so my daily make up routine wouldn't end in a screaming fit everyday haha a little exaggeration there ;)

So I went into Boots and somehow ended up in front of the Collection stand again and thought I'd give them another try! This time I took my time and didn't just grab the first product I saw. And that's how the Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner ended up in my basket.

This product is so easy to use and gives you a great result! As the name suggests it has an felt tip pen applicator which makes it really easy to apply. You just swipe it on your lid and Bob's your uncle (sorry had to include this expression as I love it! haha I'm such a weird foreigner sorry!).  I love the colour intensity of it as well, it gives a great black line and you don't have to go over it anymore!

Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tips Liner

I also find that this the Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner lasts longer on my eye lids and doesn't smudge as easy as the Fast Stroke Eyeliner.

I would definitely recommend the Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner if you are looking for a great and easy to use eyeliner! Both products are available at Boots, the Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner retails for £2,99 but unfortunately I can't find the Fast Stroke Eyeliner online at the moment!

Have you tried any of these products before? If so how did you get on? And what's your current eyeliner favourite?

ASTOR Heidi Klum Lipstick Review

Hello everyone!

Today I want to show you two gorgeous lipsticks from ASTOR Cosmetics!

I was reading Denise's blog post about her drugstore haul and that's where I came across the "Heidi Color Last VIP Collection" lipsticks. I searched for the whole range online and fell in love with the colours!

As I don't know where in the UK you can buy Astor products (anyone any ideas?!)  I asked my mum to send me my two favourite shades as a small birthday present  (all the way from Austria) - and she did! (For anyone who'd like to know: she bought them from a drugstore called Bipa.)

First of all look at the lovely packaging! The two shades I got are "003 cheeky" and "007 bubbly" - cute names for cute colours :)

"003 cheeky"

"007 bubbly"
left: "003 cheeky" right: "007 bubbly"
My first thought when I opened the lipsticks was "oh god they look really pigmented and a way too bright"! But after I swatched them on my arm I was relieved - they look much nicer and not too bright on my skin and lips!

As you can see "003 cheeky" is a cute orange-red colour and as I said not too bright! I really like the glossy-looking finish this lipstick has. It will probably become my go-to lipstick this spring!

"007 bubbly" is a bright pink berry colour and also has a glossy-looking finish. It's a pop of colour that's perfect for a night out! Or maybe to brighten up a bad weather day!

I love that they don't wear off too quick, so you don't have to touch up often. I also think that Heidi Klum did a very good job with choosing the colours for this range. There are nine gorgeous colours that are personally designed by Heidi to celebrate many different qualities (see the names!)

And for the price of €4,99 I think these lipsticks are very good quality.

The only thing I don't like too much is the way they smell/taste - a bit too cosmetic for my taste.

Have you ever tried any Astor Cosmetics products? If so what's your favourite?

Along Came Betty Eyebrow Kit "Br-wow"

Hello everybody!

So a few weeks back I went to Tescos to buy some bits and bobs (as you do haha) when I suddenly remembered that a friend of mine recommended me an affordable beauty brand that was available there. So I walk down to the make up isle and found it quickly!

The brand is called "Along Came Betty" and their products are packed in pretty pink and vintage looking packages. They remind me of other brands like Soap & Glory or benefit.

As I didn't really need anything I told myself to only pick out one item. My choice was the eyebrow kit "Br-wow". I never owned a proper eyebrow kit before - I usually used an eyebrow pencil or just brow powder - so I was really excited to try out this bargain!

The kit comes in the colour "fair brown". As you can see it contains two different brown powder shades on top ("fair" and "brown"), as well as a wax to add definition and a translucent setting powder. It also comes with a little handy double-ended brush, one end is an angled brush and the other one is for shaping your brows.

I like using a mix of the two top shades to fill in my brows and then I use the wax to give them more definition. I never really use the translucent powder.

So here are my eyebrows - the left undone and the right one done!

I believe this product costs about £5 but if I'm not mistaken I bought it for the amazing price of £1,50! Unfortunately I already threw the receipt away so I can't check it again! However it's an amazing bargain price for this product!

I'm totally happy with this find and since I bought it, I used it almost every single day (except for non-makeup days). I would definitely recommend it to people who are looking for a nice and cheap eyebrow kit. And I will be looking into more of the "Along Came Betty" range!

Have you ever tried any "Along Came Betty"-products? If so what's your favourite!

Topshop Haul

Hello everyone!

I'm pretty excited because this is my first haul post aaand also the first time I bought something from Topshop - can you believe that?!

I spent a lovely weekend with my friends in London and of course I did a bit of shopping! And I found some nice bargains in Topshop that I want to share with you :)

First I got this cute make up pouch which I had my eye on since it came out before christmas! It contains a beautiful cream blush in the colour "Morning Dew" which is a cute and wearable pink. The lipstick i got is called "Rio Rio" and the colour is really vibrant red and I think I wouldn't wear it on a daily basis but definitely for a night out! The pouch was 30% off and I only payed £8,40 instead of £12.

My next pick was a white nail varnish in feather optic. The shade is called "Mime Hands". I'm excited to try this one out. Maybe on top of a black nail polish? I think it would look really nice. This product was reduced down to £3 from originally £6. Sorry for the bad photo but I couldn't really catch the structure of the nail varnish :(

And the item I'm most excited about is this pair of black lace up wedge boots! I didn't think I would like them at first but when I tried them on I fell in love! They have quite a high heel but it's not too bad because of the wedge. I think they would look lovely combined with a pair of jeans, a nice top and a leather jacket. And they were only £15 instead of £75! They also remind me of Doc Martens but more chic and girly!

Let me know what you think of my picks! Also: tell me what some of your favourite Topshop buys are!

Little KIKO Haul

Hello everyone!

I'm really sorry for the lack of blog posts the past few weeks. I was a little stressed because of Christmas - I had to do lots of shopping and wrapping presents and so on. I also had to plan and pack my suitcase because I'm home in Austria over Christmas break - whoo!

I arrived in Vienna on monday evening and my parents picked me up. I'm really excited to be home for Christmas. And my mum already gave me a pre-christmas-present: she picked up some products from KIKO for me!

I already own some nail lacquers from KIKO and I really enjoy the formulae and they have an amazing colour range!

My mum bought a lovely burgundy nail lacquer which I think is lovely for autumn and winter. The shade is called "243 Plum Red".

I also got a a simple grey Quick Dry nail lacquer in the shade "818 Smoke Gray".

And of course you can never go wrong with a black nail varnish! I'm always on the hunt for the perfect black nail varnish because I find that a lot of blacks don't go on smoothly and I'm a little fussy with that (I know it's quite strange! haha)

My mum also picked up a concealer for herself, but she decided she's not the biggest fan of it and she'd rather stick with her old and well-known concealer. So she gave it to me instead! She said she prefers her stick concealers because it's quicker and she doesn't want to take the time to apply it with a brush.

I haven't tried it yet but I'm excited to and I'll let you know what i think about it! The shade she got is "02 Natural".

So that's everything I have for today! I want to know if you have any experience with KIKO products and what you could recommend!

xx

Sleek Au Naturel Palette

hey there J

So I popped into Superdrug when I was in London to pick up one of the Sleek Palettes. I came across the Sleek display in my local Superdrug and when I saw it I was like "What?! I didn’t even know they sell Sleek here!“. I got really excited and so i had a closer look.

The first palette i grabbed was the "Au Naturel Palette". I usually tend to go for the natural eye shadows. I really like to do brownish smokey eye looks. Whether it’s for a day look or a night out (i just put on some more mascara and eyeliner). I really liked the shades of the palette – it contains four shimmers and eight mattes.

And also the fact that it’s really handy and has a nice big mirror. I think it will be a great companion for traveling!

I also really like the packaging!

Then i had a look at "Oh So Special Palette" and I fell in love with the colours! But I was a little bit unsure if i could rock a more colourful eye make up look. So in I had to ask my friends advice and they told me I should get the "Au Naturel Palette" as it matches my eyes better – so that’s what i did! And I’m really happy about it! I like how the eyeshadow is super wearable for the daytime but you could also glam it up with the shimmering shades!

But now that I’m thinking of the "Oh So Special Palette" .. hmm .. I think I might need to pick it up the next time I get to a Superdrug store!

What is your favourite eyeshadow palette? And what do you think about the Sleek products? Any recommendations?

new foundation

hello there J

After a struggel that went on for what seems like ages, i think i finally managed to find the perfect foundation for me! And i wanted to share it with you J

I tried a few different foundations before and i never was really happy with the results. I either looked cakey (especially with some powder on top) or it just didn’t fit my skin colour. But since i heard (and read) so many good things about the Rimmel London Match Perfection foundation - i thought i’d give it another go. And i’m really happy about it!

The foundation has got a medium coverage. I got it in the colour "102 light nude" and i think it looks very natural and leaves your skin looking fresh and awake. It stays on almost all day and some days i only used the foundation and a little bit of mascara (without any other products – yes i felt a little lazy haha :P) and i still liked how my skin looked.

And i don’t know about you, but i really like it when products smell good and that’s the case with this foundation haha :D

So if you are looking for a good foundation that also is affortable you should definitley give it a go!

Please leave me a comment what you think about it or if you have any recommendations! J

See you soon,

Ann-Kathrin
