February Favourites

Hello everybody!

Today's blog post is about my february favourites as you've already guessed from the title ;) so let's get right into it!

A lifesaver for my lips this month has been my "Vaseline Lip Therapy" in the Aloe Vera flavour. It's always in my handbag and whenever if feel my lips are drying out I just pop it on! Afterwards my lips feel moisturized and better (and so do I haha). I picked mine up at Primark for £1,20 but you can get it in pretty much any store that sells beauty products.

My second favourite this month has to be my ASTOR lipstick in "003 cheeky" from the "Heidi Klum Color Last VIP Collection". I've been wearing it pretty much every single day! I think it's the perfect spring lipstick for me. A review on this one and another lipstick of the collection is coming soon - so watch out for it :)

The "Br-wow" Eyebrow kit from "Along Came Betty" has been a favourite of mine as well. I did a whole blog post on it which you can read here - nothing more to add to this!

I received the Christina Aguilera perfume "Unforgettable" as an early birthday present form my father (I cheekily opened my parents birthday presents already - even though my birthday is at the beginning of march! Shh please don't tell on me! haha).

I always was a big fan of Christinas perfumes and I'm so happy that my dad remembered it and got me the latest one of her collection! And I'm in love - it smells so delicious. I researched the scents (because I'm rubbish at describing them myself!) and apparently there are top notes of plum and pomegranate, the heart notes are night blooming jasmine and turkish rose, and the base notes contain cashmere, vanilla and tonka absolute.

I also love the packaging! So cute and matching this romantic perfume!

My two non-beauty related favourites this month are two books I reeeally enjoyed reading!

The first one is "Paper Towns" by John Green. I loved "Looking For Alaska" and "The Fault In Our Stars" so of course I had to read other books by John Green. He is one of my favourite writers and I wasn't disappointed with this book! I couldn't put it away and was so curious what was going to happen!

Here's a quick description: It is about a boy called Quentin "Q" Jacobson who is searching for his neighbour Margo Roth Spiegelman, who disappeared after an all-night road trip with Q. Margo left clues and Q is determined to find her - no matter how tricky it will be!

You'll have to read it to find out if he can find her .. ;)

The other book is called "Allegiant" and it's the third and final book of Veronica Roths "Divergent"-trilogy. I LOVED the first two books and was soo excited when I finally bought the last book because I wanted to find out what is happening in the world of Tris and Four/Tobias. Even though I read a spoiler before I finished it (shame on me for looking at fan-photos on Instagram!) I really enjoyed reading it - the only thing I didn't enjoy was finishing the book and also finishing the trilogy! I want this story to go on and on … - do you get me? haha

A description to this is a bit trickier because it's the last book of a series and you need to start from the beginning - so why don't you check it out yourself? I promise you won't regret it! If you enjoyed "The Hunger Games"-trilogy than you will love this one as well! Also the first film is coming out soon - which I'm soo excited about!

What are some of your favourites this month? And would you enjoy book reviews on my blog every now and again? Please let me know!

xx Ann-Kathrin

btw: if you're wondering: YES I've been listening to old Christina Aguilera songs while writing this post! haha still so good! :)

NOTD #1

Hello everybody!

I hope you are all doing well :) today i've got my very first little "nails of the day" post for you! I was a bit bored so I decided to paint my nails - hope you enjoy :)

I've used my KIKO Quick Dry nail lacquer in the shade "818 Smoke Gray" (which I talked about in my KIKO Haul back in december). I love the colour and also the fact that it dries soo quick!

I also used my white Topshop nail varnish in feather optic as a highlight on only one finger. (I mentioned this in my Topshop Haul)

Please excuse my dry-looking fingers - I've been very bad and haven't been using hand creme regularly recently :/

Please let me know if you would like more posts of this kind! :)

Along Came Betty Eyebrow Kit "Br-wow"

Hello everybody!

So a few weeks back I went to Tescos to buy some bits and bobs (as you do haha) when I suddenly remembered that a friend of mine recommended me an affordable beauty brand that was available there. So I walk down to the make up isle and found it quickly!

The brand is called "Along Came Betty" and their products are packed in pretty pink and vintage looking packages. They remind me of other brands like Soap & Glory or benefit.

As I didn't really need anything I told myself to only pick out one item. My choice was the eyebrow kit "Br-wow". I never owned a proper eyebrow kit before - I usually used an eyebrow pencil or just brow powder - so I was really excited to try out this bargain!

The kit comes in the colour "fair brown". As you can see it contains two different brown powder shades on top ("fair" and "brown"), as well as a wax to add definition and a translucent setting powder. It also comes with a little handy double-ended brush, one end is an angled brush and the other one is for shaping your brows.

I like using a mix of the two top shades to fill in my brows and then I use the wax to give them more definition. I never really use the translucent powder.

So here are my eyebrows - the left undone and the right one done!

I believe this product costs about £5 but if I'm not mistaken I bought it for the amazing price of £1,50! Unfortunately I already threw the receipt away so I can't check it again! However it's an amazing bargain price for this product!

I'm totally happy with this find and since I bought it, I used it almost every single day (except for non-makeup days). I would definitely recommend it to people who are looking for a nice and cheap eyebrow kit. And I will be looking into more of the "Along Came Betty" range!

Have you ever tried any "Along Came Betty"-products? If so what's your favourite!

Topshop Haul

Hello everyone!

I'm pretty excited because this is my first haul post aaand also the first time I bought something from Topshop - can you believe that?!

I spent a lovely weekend with my friends in London and of course I did a bit of shopping! And I found some nice bargains in Topshop that I want to share with you :)

First I got this cute make up pouch which I had my eye on since it came out before christmas! It contains a beautiful cream blush in the colour "Morning Dew" which is a cute and wearable pink. The lipstick i got is called "Rio Rio" and the colour is really vibrant red and I think I wouldn't wear it on a daily basis but definitely for a night out! The pouch was 30% off and I only payed £8,40 instead of £12.

My next pick was a white nail varnish in feather optic. The shade is called "Mime Hands". I'm excited to try this one out. Maybe on top of a black nail polish? I think it would look really nice. This product was reduced down to £3 from originally £6. Sorry for the bad photo but I couldn't really catch the structure of the nail varnish :(

And the item I'm most excited about is this pair of black lace up wedge boots! I didn't think I would like them at first but when I tried them on I fell in love! They have quite a high heel but it's not too bad because of the wedge. I think they would look lovely combined with a pair of jeans, a nice top and a leather jacket. And they were only £15 instead of £75! They also remind me of Doc Martens but more chic and girly!

Let me know what you think of my picks! Also: tell me what some of your favourite Topshop buys are!

Liebster Award!

Hello everyone!

You may ask "What's the Liebster Award?". The Liebster Award is a tag for new bloggers with under 200 followers to help them get noticed. All you have to do is when you get nominated is answer the 11 questions chosen for you, nominate 11 other blogs and choose 11 questions for them to answer!

So I've been nominated for The Liebster Award twice already! I never thought somebody would even think about nominating me! So a HUGE thank you to Amy and Georgina! I'm going to answer all of their questions.

Amy's questions:

1) Whats your favourite beauty product at the moment?
My Burt's Bees Beewax Lip Balm Peppermint - it's a lifesaver in winter!

2) Which season do you prefer dressing for?
Definitely spring or summer! You can just wear cute outfits and don't need to be wrapped up in a big coat with scarf, hat and gloves! I just can't cope with the cold - brrr!

3) What was the last thing that you bought?

A birthday present for a friend which I can't reveal here in case she reads this - haha sorry! :)

4) If you had to pick 5 make up products to wear for the rest of your life, what would you pick?

Mascara, eyeliner, concealer, brow powder and lipbalm

5) Whats your favourite magazine?

I don't really read magazines just every once in a while.

6) If you could be anyone in the world, who would it be?

That's such a though question! Probably Johnny Depp (is it weird that I picked a man? haha) Because he's an amazing actor and has accomplished so many things. And his life just seems like a lot of fun!

7) What is your dream job?

I'd love to be a photographer! Travelling the world and following your passion would just be amazing! But I'd also love to become an English teacher - maybe the "boring/realistic" alternative? haha

8) Favourite film and why?
Honestly I don't have a favourite film! It's usually the one I've just recently watched haha

9) How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
It takes my about 15 to 20 minutes to get dressed and get my make up done so I'd say I'm ready to go quite quick!? The "waking up in the morning" part is the harder bit haha ;)

10) Who's your favourite blogger?

Oh god there are so many I like! But I'd have to say my favourite blogger, and also one of the first ones I started following, is Em from www.emtalks.co.uk I really enjoy her style of blogging and her posts are just great - please check her out!

11) Describe yourself in 3 words:

bubbly, talkative and reliable

Georgina's questions:

1) Do you have a nickname if so what?

I have many but the most used one is AK

2) What is your desert island item?

Though one! I'd say a good book to not get bored? Or maybe an endless supply of food to survive :P

3) If you could be any animal what would you be?

Without any question: a cat!

4) If you could visit any country where would you go and why?

I would go to Illinois, to visit one of my best friends near Chicago.

5) Where's your favourite place to shop?

Either H&M, Primark or New Look

6) What's your favourite type of music?

It always chances so whatever I feel like listening to at the moment!

7) How would you describe your fashion style?

Comfy casual but dressy as well? No idea whatever I feel like :)

8) What's your favourite cosmetic brand?

Right now it's Rimmel London!

9) If you could have any job in the world what would you be?

Either a photographer or an English teacher (as mentioned above)

10) What's your favourite colour?

Pink

11) If you were granted 3 wishes what would they be?

1. For everybody to just get along and no fights :)
2. an unlimited supply of free flight tickets so I can go back and forth and see my family and friends whenever I want.
3. more wishes? (I know that's cheating haha)

wreck this journal

hello everybody!

finally! a new blog post - here it comes! I don't even have a valid excuse for not blogging, other than me being lazy (shame on me) and maybe a bit of a writers block. Sorry!

So at the beginning of the year i set myself the goal to write down at least one sentence a day in my journal. I don't see it as a new years resolution - it's more like a record for myself that I can look back on in a years time. And so far I've been very good! :)

But I got a little bored with just my "plain and ordinary" journal and one day i stumbled across a video from one of my favourite youtubers grav3yardgirl! It was about the book "Wreck This Journal" and her ways to wreck and destroy this book. She now does a weekly series about it - which you definitely should check out!

I got really curious about this journal so i went to the next bookstore and bought my own copy! And so far I'm not disappointed :)

The book basically encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and maybe do things you haven't done before. The author Keri Smith gives you instructions on how to wreck and destroy the journal - but still see art and also beauty in it.

Each page has an instruction on how to "destroy" or change it. Sometimes you're just asked to doodle circles all over the page. But other pages tell you to bring the journal in the shower with you (very strange - right?). I'm not going to give the other tasks away though - you should see for yourself :)

The goal of the journal is to see creative destruction everywhere and maybe begin to live more recklessly! (love this introduction to the book!)

I love the idea behind it and I'm excited to see how it's going to look like when I'm finished (I saw some amazing things people did with their journal on google!). But I'm also a little afraid to finish some tasks - eek I don't want to "document my dinner" by smearing it over the pages! But I'll try to finish one page each day :)

What do you think about keeping a journal? Have you tried "Wreck This Journal"?
