Tips Tuesday #5

Hello everybody!

Another tuesday and another post in my Tips Tuesday series! Today's nail polish is essence colour & go in the shade "111 English Rose":

I found this the other day just sitting in one of my desk drawers and fell back in love with the colour. I've had this for quite some time but kinda forgot about it.

I love this dusky rose colour because it's unlike the girly pink shades in my collection. In my eyes it looks really classy and sophisticated. It might be more of an autumnal colour but I absolutely love it for all year around!

Since I've had this bottle for a "little" while now the consistency has gone a bit gloopy, but I can tell you it's usually really lovely and easy to apply. It dries quickly which is also great - you should know by now how impatient I am. And the brush is also the perfect size, not too big and not too small!

What do you think of this colour? Have you ever tried any of the essence colour & go nail polishes? If so which ones?

Have a great tuesday,

xx Ann-Kathrin

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Hello lovelies!

aaaaah I've finally got it!! After over a year of craving this palette I can finally call it mine: the Naked 2 palette by Urban Decay! I featured this in my "Before I Leave Wish List" and shortly after uploading that post I bought it!

The palette consists of 12 beautiful taupe-hued neutral which contain matte as wells as shimmer eyeshadows. There are 3 matte and 9 shimmery hues that come in a sturdy metal packaging with a huge mirror. The product also comes with a double ended brush with one end for applying eyeshadow and the other for blending it out.

Foxy a matte sandy beige shade
Half Baked a gorgeous gold with metallic shimmer finish
Bootycall champagne hue
Chopper intensive chopper shade
Tease a dark taupe with matte finish
Snakebite brown with golden shimmer

Suspect a lighter brown shimmer shade
Pistol a grey taupe hue
Verve a light silver shade
YDK is a metallic rose gold
Busted a rich dark brown shimmer shade
Blackout a matte and ultra-black

I really tried my best to describe every shade but I'm just horrible at describing colours - sorry!

Anyways: the pigmentation is, just as I expected, incredible! The eyeshadows are so smooth and almost creamy (can you say that about an eyeshadow? haha)

At the moment my favourites for a beautiful everyday make up look are "Bootycall" all over the lid, "Tease" on the outer corners and crease and at last a "Pistol" to define the crease a bit more!

What do you think of this palette? Do you own any of the Naked palettes yourself? Which one is your favourite?

xx Ann-Kathrin

Tips Tuesday #4

Hello lovelies!

Tips Tuesday Number 4 is all about the Rimmel London I Love Lasting Finish in "198 Azure":

This is as the name suggests, a lovely azure blue with a metallic sheen! I seem to have forgotten about this little gem but when raiding my stash the other day I discovered it again. The formular feels a bit sticky to me and I needed a good three coats of it so my nail wouldn't shine through! I really love the colour though as it reminds me of the beach and the sea which makes it a great summer shade!

And since I needed three coats it started chipping on the second to third day which is a bit of a bummer. But as I mentioned before, most of my nail polishes chip quite quickly, so that's nothing new!

Have you tried any of the Rimmel I Love Lasting Finish nail polishes? If so which one is your favourite? And what do you think about this colour?

Empties #1

Hello lovelies!

Today I have my first Empties post for you! I never thought I'd ever be able to write down a post like this because as of late I've become a bit of a product hoarder! But over the past two to three months I've finished quite a lot of products and saved them from going straight into the bin!

Also this is the second time I'm writing down this post, as I somehow managed to copy and paste over the whole post and save it so that I couldn't go back to the old form - damn it. But do I get plus points for my effort?

Face

The Body Shop Tea Tree Squeaky-Clean Scrub: I've finished another one of these face scrubs. I love it for exfoliating because it leaves my skin really clean and fresh and isn't too harsh either.
Repurchase? Yes I would repurchase this product!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Lotion: I have to say I unfortunately haven't seen any difference on my skin after using this product. But I did like it as an evening moisturiser and the tingling feeling it left on my skin.
Repurchase? No because as I said I didn't see any benefits.

LUSH BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask: I've gone through this face mask quite quickly because it's just a small tub. I do think it feels really nice and exfoliating on my face.
Repurchase? Probably not because it's quite expensive for such a small product.

Nivea Daily Essentials Oil Free Mouisturising Day Cream: I've used this as a daily moisturiser and before applying my make up. I've actually temporarily replaced it with another one and just finished this tub.
Repurchase? Maybe, but if so I'd go for one for normal skin because mine isn't really oily.

Rimmel Match Perfection Foundation: I've also finished the first product I've ever blogged about haha! I still really like this foundation, even tough this particular shade is a bit too dark for me. I've used it when having a tan and unfortunately I ran out on the day when I was having a tan - ugh bad luck eh?
Repurchase? Yes I would repurchase because the formular is really lovely.

Burt's Bees Beeswax Lip Balm: I'm a bit sad about this one being an empty! I love the peppermint flavour and it's soothing on my (apparently always) chapped lips! It's also a non-greasy lip balm which I like.
Repurchase? Yes I would.

Hair

HASK Argan Oil: Unfortunately I didn't really enjoy this product. Okay I did, for like the first three times but after that I felt like it didn't make a difference to my hair at all. I was just left with greasy-looking hair, even when using just the tiniest amount!
Repurchase? No I wouldn't repurchase.

Body

The Body Shop Shower Gel in Passion Fruit: I've also used up this shower gel and I really love the fresh scent, it's probably my favourite! What more can you say about a shower gel? haha
Repurchase? Yes if I can find it on offer, otherwise I'd opt for a cheaper alternative just because you go thorough it so quickly!

The Body Shop Body Butter in Strawberry and Passionfruit: Okay that I've finished two tubs just shows how much I love these! The body butters feel so luxurious, hydrating and leave your skin really smooth. I'm not the biggest fan of the strawberry one, it smells a bit to artificial for me, but as I said passionfruit is my favourite scent (and Vineyard Peach!).
Repurchase? Yes definitely!

The Body Shop Body Lotion in Japanese Cherry Blossom: This body lotion skins in so quick and leaves the skin smooth and smelling nice. I have to say that sometimes the scent can be a bit overwhelming though.
Repurchase? No simply because I'd go for a cheaper alternative.

I Love Bubble Bath & Shower Gel: I've actually used up several different bottles of this in different scents over the past few months. It creates great bubble baths and smells really lovely (all of them!). And it's a handy little shower gel for weekends aways.
Repurchase? Yes I would.

Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub: This is just a great body exfoliator and especially good for getting your legs summer ready. I've also used this to prepare my skin for fake tan, and to get rid of it. Also it smells so delicious!
Repurchase? Yes I would repurchase!

Hands

essence nail art express dry drops: I'm the worst when it comes to being impatient when my nails are drying! My friend recommended me these drops and they are amazing. My manicure is done way faster whenever using this product. I have to say that your hands will be oily after using this, but I just wash the oil of and I'm good to go!
Repurchase? Yes I already have!

Garnier Hand Intensive 7 days Hand Cream Mango: A lovely fast absorbing hand cream that doesn't leave my hands feeling sticky - perfect! I like how quickly it sinks into your skin and leaves it feeling nourished. I've had this product for a while and just finished it now, so I'd say a little goes a long way.
Repurchase? Yes I would.

Health

Bepanthen Wound Healing Cream: This is a forever repurchased product in my family! I don't even know through how many of these we've been through. Yep I've always been the girl that was coming home from playing with the bloody knees or picked open mosquito bites. Nowadays I use it for minor cuts (thanks to lovely cats!), the odd mosquito bite and also on my lips I've they are in really bad condition!
Repurchase? Yes, always haha

I really hoped you enjoyed this Empties post. Let me know if you did and if I should do another one! Have you tried any of the products I've mentioned?

xx Ann-Kathrin

Tips Tueday #3

Hello lovelies!

The product that I'm talking about this week is the Barry M Nail Paint in "SKNP2 Pearl" from their Silk collection.

This nail paint is a gorgeous pearly white which in my eyes looks really sophisticated and classy. I love the pearly sheen that it has. I've also worn this for my birthday party with a black dress and a nice tan and whenever I look at those photos I have to stare at my nails haha

Unfortunately the camera doesn't pick up the beauty of it at all :(
It's also the perfect consistency - it glides on so smooth and looks opaque in only two coats. I prefer this formular over the Barry M Hi-Shine Gelly one because I think it's easier to work with it!

Have a great tuesday,

xx Ann-Kathrin

USA Beauty Wish List

USA Beauty Wish List

USA Beauty Wish List from annxkathrin

Hello lovelies!

Since you seemed to have enjoyed my last Wish List post (see here!) I thought I'd do another one for you! And it's also a wish list that I'll give to my aunt - she lives in America and is coming to visit in August. So I'm taking the opportunity to get my hands on some make up bits that I can't get in Austria or that are cheaper in the states!

I've heard lovely things about the NYX Butter Glosses and that's why there are two on my wish list! The shades that I chose are "Strawberry Parfait" and "Peaches & Cream". I've looked at swatches and fell in love with those two!

Another NYX product I've had my eye on is their Powder Blush in "Taupe". I've heard many people talk about this as being great for contouring so I wanted to give it a go. I also want to get the shade "Summer Peach".

Benefits Hoola Bronzer has been on my wish list for some time now! I've never tried any benefit products before so this will be a first! And I can't wait to try it out!

And the last thing, that unfortunately I couldn't find on polyvore but that I really want to try, is the Physicians Formular Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush! Can we just talk about how pretty this looks? GOSH! I saw Fleur de Force talk about this in one of her videos and ever since then I wanted to get my hands on it!

And that's everything on my current wish list! I want to add some more products so please let me know what other USA beauty products I need to add on this list! What is on your current Beauty wish list?

xx Ann-Kathrin

Tips Tuesday #2

Hello beauties!

Another tuesday, another nail polish I need to share with you! I chose the Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in the colour "Greenberry" today:

Greenberry is lovely bright turquoise green shade. It's a total eye-catcher and perfect for summer! I love bright nails so I was drawn to this hue straight away!

I was really curious to find out how this gel-like formular performs and looks on the nails. But I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed when I first applied it. Don't get me wrong: I love the colour and how vibrant it is, but I think I was just expecting something different, more like gel from the nail salon.

I think this formular requires a bit more practice and patience (which I clearly don't have haha). I needed a good two coats to get a nice opaque finish and get rid of the streaks I created with the first one. I ended up applying three coats - which unfortunately makes it prune to chipping faster.

Anyways, I feel like I'm rambling on too much about this. My conclusion is that I absolutely love the colour and just need to deal with my impatience and shaky hand when applying nail polish!

What do you think of the Barry M Hi-Shine Gelly Nail Paints? What's your favorite shade?

xx Ann-Kathrin

June Favourites

Hello lovelies!

Okay so I titled this post as "May Favourites" at first - if that's not a sign for me not realizing how time is flying by, then I don't know what is. Anyways, I've put together a little list of beauty and non-beauty related things that I've loved throughout the month of June!

I've been loving the Dove Purely Pampering Nourishing Lotion with almond cream and hibiscus and this product skins into the skin so quickly and leaves it so soft and smooth. And the smell is just divine! A friend actually recommended me the lotion that smells of pistachios and magnolia which is on my wish list for next time!

I've enjoyed my "Brightside" bath bomb from LUSH. Unfortunately I can't put it on the photo anymore because it gone! But I've blogged about this already so go and have a look at that here.

I finally purchased the Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick in "Wine 107" and I've been loving this beautiful wine coloured red! I know a lot of people rave about this and that's just because it looks really lovely. It's also doesn't leave my lips too dry even though it's a lipstick with matte finish. And it smells really great too!

Another favourite of mine has been the PS Love Your Nails Nail Polish Twist Pot for instant nail varnish removal. I purchased this on a trip to Primark while being in Manchester and thought it would be an easy way to remove my chipped nail varnish - and it is. You just stick your finger in, twist it against the pre-soaked sponge and after taking out, you're good to go! It also doesn't have a horrible smell like other nail varnish removers.

And how could I write a June Favourites post and not mention the Urban Decay Naked 2 palette I treated myself to? I've loved trying out some different eye make ups with it. My favourite combination at the moment is "Bootycall" all over the lid, "Tease" in the outer corner and crease and also a bit of "Pistol" in my crease. I can't wait to use it even more - I'm excited to do a special going out make up look with it!

I've also finished the sixth and last book of The Mortal Instruments series: City of Heavenly Fire! Okay.. WOW. Can we just talk about all those plot twists and stuff that happened?! I literally can't believe how much happened haha. If you haven't read the series please go and do it - you won't be disappointed! And if you have: what did you think about this?
Also I don't have the actual copy on the photos because I've but it in a parcel that I've already sent of home to Austria.

Have you already listened to Ed Sheerans new album "x"? If not go and give it a listen! I've been totally loving it! I'm actually listening to it while writing down this post. I'll definitely purchase the CD soon, but for now I'll listen to it on youtube. My favourite songs are "Don't""Thinking Out Loud" and "Afire Love". I'm also really gutted I couldn't get tickets to see him in concert in Vienna in July!

And my biggest favourite this month has to be the One Direction concert I went to! Yes I have to admit to you that I'm a little fangirl! I bought myself the ticket as my reward for completing my final exams and finishing secondary school last June. So I've been looking forward to this concert for a year now - crazy huh? So on saturday the 7th of June I took the train down to London, met up with two of my best friends and off we went to Wembley Stadium. The concert was just AMAZING - I can't even say more than that! A nice bonus was that 5 Seconds Of Summer were their support group because I love them as well!

What have you been loving this month? Leave me a comment and let me know some of your favourites!

xx Ann-Kathrin

Tips Tuesday #1

Hello lovelies!

Recently I've become a bit of a nail varnish addict and hoarder and while painting my tips the other day I came up with a new idea! I thought I'd start a little series on my blog to share my nail polish stash with you all. This is also a nice way to force myself to dug into my stash and try out polishes that I might have forgotten about. So here we go with the first edition of Tips Tuesday:

I chose essie's "Peach Daiquiri" for this weeks tips! I just can't stop staring at it, when I wear it on my nails! It's a perfect peachy coral colour and therefor a great summer colour! I think this will look lovely with a nice tan. Also the cute name makes me wanna sip cocktails in the sun with my feet in the sand! Speaking of feet - this also looks gorgeous on your toes!

The quality of essie nail polishes is impressive! I never thought I would jump on this bandwagon but about 2 months ago I purchased my first ever essie nail polish and fell in love. The applicator is a great size as it's quite big, but not too huge. I love that the consistency of the varnish is not too runny but also not too sticky! It applies really smooth and easy. And with "Peach Daiquiri" I had a great result after just two coats!

As for the staying power: I work with my hands a lot and wash them quite often, so I'm by no means the best example for chip-resistant nails. I'm yet to find a nail varnish that stays on chip-free for more than 3 days!

I also used this MUA Clear Top Coat as a base coat and top coat to finish my nails off.

And that's it for the first Tips Tuesday (#TT anyone?!). I hope you enjoyed this quick midweek post and are looking forward to the next one? I'll be posting these every week from now on :)

What has been on your nails this week?

Have a great day,

xx Ann-Kathrin
